Magnesium alloy applied with tig or gas torch and used for general brazing and welding of magnesium alloys.
Strata 61 is for use in general brazing and repair of magnesium casting, building up of worn or missing sections, fabricating any magnesium parts and welding magnesium alloys. The alloy has a wide plastic range so it can be used as a thin flowing or bead forming or filler metal, building up of worn or missing sections and the fabrication of any magnesium parts.
It leaves a high strength deposit which will give an excellent colour match to the base metal.
The Strata 61 will provide excellent crack resistance and can be applied without porosity.
Key Features:
Can be used with oxy-acetylene or TIG welding procedure.
TYPICAL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Undiluted Weld Metal Maximum Value Up To
Tensile Strength 40,000 PSI (276 MPa)
Colour Match Good
Corrosion Resistance Good
Working Temp 535°C - 620°C
A super easy to use electrode for low alloyed steels - STRATA 581 should be the only electrode used when high strength and good welding characteristics are desired.
