Strata GT4 can gouge, bevel or cut all metals including stainless steels, aluminium and copper. It is excellent for the removal of stainless steel joints and overlays. It is excellent for removing unwanted welds and for preparing cast iron prior to welding.
 
Strata G.T.4. is a special alloy having a thicker than normal flux coating. The extra concentration of flux not only protects the core wire from overheating, it produces large volumes of gas that will remove more metal per electrode. The external coating melts at a reduced rate to the core wire.  When melted, the chemical’s which form the coating, create a gas of intense velocity and cause a blasting action. This blasting action blows away the molten metal and leaves a clean groove ready for welding.
Strata G.T.4. will remove porous, cracked, fatigued or worn metal and provides for perfect bonding of the weld metal.   On cast iron the arc will ‘sear’ the base metal and burn out grease, oil, moisture and some of the excess carbon which in most cases, produces a hard, brittle, porous weld which would be difficult to machine. 
G.T.4. works efficiently on most metals, including bronze, brass, cast iron, manganese steels and stainless steels.  When used on stainless steel, care should be taken before welding to remove any traces of deposited metal.
