High corrosion resistant, universal stainless steel electrode which is very easy to use on all types of stainless steel
Strata 520 is a high corrosion resisting, low carbon stainless steel electrode with a special coating making it ideally suited to welding stainless steel that is stabilised with titanium or niobium i.e. AISA types 321 and 347. It will also readily apply to 301, 302, 304, 308, 316 and 318 types of stainless steel.
When stainless steel is welded the work piece and the weld metal traverse the temperature range from 500 C to 900 C. In non stablised stainless steel, the harmful substances (chromium carbides) then form, which sharply reduce the resistance of the metaerial to corrosion by chemical substances (inter crystalline corrosion).
The weld metal of the STRATA 520 is stablised with niobium and has the same high resistance to corrosion as stablised stainless steel. This electrode is suitable for working in the food, chemical, petrochemical and dairy industries.
